Never share these

You are talking to someone you do not know. Almost every bad outcome in random chat starts with one piece of identifying information. Keep all of these to yourself:

• Your full name, school, or workplace.
• Where you live — city is usually fine, street and neighbourhood are not.
• Phone number, email, or social handles, at least not in the first conversation.
• Anything financial. No card numbers, no bank details, no crypto wallets, ever.
• Photos you would not want kept. Assume anything on camera can be recorded.

Leaving is one tap

Skip is on screen for the whole conversation. It takes one tap, there is no confirmation dialog, and you never have to give a reason. If someone makes you uncomfortable, you do not owe them an exit line.

Report disconnects the person immediately and stops you being paired with them again in that session. Use it for anything that crosses a line — nudity, harassment, threats, anyone who appears to be a minor, or anyone asking you for money.

Common scams

• The "move to another app" push. Someone very quickly wants to continue on WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram. This is how most scams get off our site and away from Report.
• Recorded video used as leverage. Someone encourages you onto camera, records it, then demands money. If this happens: stop replying, do not pay, and report it to your local police. Paying does not end it.
• Investment and crypto pitches. Nobody who genuinely makes money doing this is teaching strangers on a chat site.
• The sudden emergency. A new "friend" with an urgent problem only money can solve.

Your camera and microphone

Every mode is opt-in, every single time. We never turn your camera or microphone on, and we never remember a previous choice — picking video once does not make it the default.

• Text — no camera, no microphone, nothing requested.
• Audio — microphone only. Your camera is never requested in this mode, so there is no video of you to record.
• Video — camera and microphone.

Your browser will always ask before either is used, and you can mute at any point during an audio or video chat without leaving the conversation. If you refuse permission we drop you to text rather than leaving you stuck.

Audio and video connect directly between you and the other person where the network allows it. We do not record, store, or listen to them.

Reporting something serious

Report inside the chat handles the immediate disconnect. If you have encountered something criminal — threats, extortion, or content involving a minor — please also contact your local law enforcement. They can act in ways we cannot.
